So I’m trying something new.  My focus has been all over the place lately which has resulted in not posting much.  So I’m taking a cue from another blog I read and posting some of my “currents”…

Reading: One of my goals for the new year was to get to more books and less phone… that’s not been going so great to be honest, but I blame.. well myself. I am currently reading The Antidote: Happiness for People Who Can’t Stand Positive Thinking. It’s one of Tony’s books and I’m trying to read less fiction, so the yellow cover drew me in! I’m barely cracking the spine on this one, so stay tuned to see if I learned anything from it!

Listening:  The new Ryan Bingham came out last week and I’ve been playing that a lot in the car.  At my desk, I’m bouncing back and forth between 80’s radio, Mat Kearney, new Sleater-Kinney, and Jenny Lewis’ The Voyager – all on Spotify.  I love Spotify.

Watching:  We are once again watching The West Wing on Netflix.  At least once a year we binge through it and I still love it.  We tried the new The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore but it’s just not doing anything for us.  We had high hopes, but after watching several I think we’re just going to use that time to mourn the loss of The Colbert Report.  Oh man, how I miss him.  I’m waiting to have some time to myself to catch up on the last couple episodes of Parenthood and The Great British Bake Off!

Planning:  The wedding is a month away and while all the big details are done (clothes, rings, ceremony) the little things like the reception menu and a cake are still needed to be done. We know what we want for a cake and I think I’m going to just order from Dairy Queen – Ice Cream Cake!  Other options are to get a few things from La Baguette.  Anything sweet will be fine with us!  Friends have offered to help with the photography, music, and still need some day of planning to deal with.  It’ll all come together, I’m not worried.  Which I think everyone around me is thinking is strange because I’m a worrier. I am a “let’s freak out” about the details.. this time though, I know it’ll all be fine.  The biggest part is us getting married.  Everything else is cake. See what I did there? LOL

Loving:  Being at home with my loves and the easy nights where I don’t have to cook. Tony has started helping with dinner which is amazing.  Didn’t think it would be such a huge deal to me but it is.  Couple nights a week he’s getting dinner ready and I don’t have to do anything.  I pre-cook all the proteins on Sundays so that does help, but he’s found these Archer Farms ready mixed meats at Target that he likes and he can toss in the oven.  Last night he took chicken breasts I had cooked and sliced them thin, put mozzarella on them with a little pepper and oregano and it was lovely!  I love that he is helping me with the cooking.  It’s a great feeling to be taken care of and he’s stepping his game up to include dinner!!

What are you up to?  I’d love to know what you have going on in your world!!
